SUSTAINABLE
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

ESG - OUR CLAIM

As an owner-managed family business, we are already thinking about the future. For us, sustainability, long-term employee retention and social commitment in our region go hand in hand. We are certain that establishing added social value through entrepreneurial action also contributes significantly to economic success. This is why we at Werner Wohnbau are committed to the environment, social issues and responsible corporate governance.

ESG means environmental, social and responsible corporate governance and describes three sustainability-related areas of corporate responsibility.

ENVIRONMENT

The sustainable use of resources and the reduction of CO² emissions in business operations is our contribution to the environment.

We only purchase “green” electricity from our in-house photovoltaic system and close any supply gaps via our regional supplier NaturEnergie from Rheinfelden. The tariff is based on emissions of zero grams of CO² per kWh.
– The entire office building is equipped with LED lighting and frequented rooms are fitted with motion detectors.
– Our heat supply is realized via an air/heat pump and pellets in a ratio (80/20).
– Rainwater is completely renaturalized.
– A green roof surface improves thermal insulation in winter and thus helps to save energy costs. In summer, the surface acts as a heat shield and counteracts climate change through natural evaporation energy.

The outdoor area is managed in a climate-neutral way by four Valais Blacknose sheep.
– We source regional products for our business operations in order to shorten delivery routes.
– Specially programmed software enables paperless processes.
– Incentive of a fuel-saving challenge for our company vehicles to reduce fuel consumption.
– We print advertising materials or business stationery on paper from sustainable forestry in accordance with FSC®
– Sustainable bag production from used construction fence tarpaulins with the Liebenau Foundation.

We provide habitats for a variety of organisms in order to maintain the richest possible biodiversity. We achieve this with a large garden pond, beekeeping and a wildflower wall of approx. 540 m around the office building.

To promote e-mobility, we have installed e-charging stations in the company parking lot and in the underground garage.
– Offer of leasing electric bicycles.
– Latest equipment via LifeSize for online conferencing in our meeting rooms to reduce travel.

SOCIAL

For us, social responsibility means working for the community with empathy and passion.

A company pension scheme for our employees.
– Barrier-free access to all business areas.
– Ergonomic workstations for every employee.
– Internal fitness studio as a contribution to health, including fitness courses.
– Creating an optimal working environment with feng shui and geomancy.
