Darmstadt is an independent city in the south of Hesse. The proximity to Darmstadt’s city center allows residents to easily take part in the city’s activities and facilities. Darmstadt has just over 155,000 inhabitants and is the fourth largest city in the state of Hesse after Frankfurt am Main, Wiesbaden and Kassel. The nearest larger cities are Frankfurt am Main and Offenbach, about 30 km to the north, Wiesbaden and Mainz, about 40 km to the northwest, Mannheim, about 45 km and Heidelberg about 55 km to the south.

The Wixhausen train station is within walking distance of the property itself. The S6 from Friedberg via Frankfurt main station to Darmstadt-Wixhausen with terminus at Darmstadt main station runs every 30 minutes.
